^Housing Futures is the international online platform on housing strategies for cities around the globe. We share our knowledge, insights and our enthusiasm to create accessible, affordable, healthy, safe and inclusive cities.
The necessity of a global platform on housing
We believe that affordable and accessible housing is key in building strong societies around the world. As the world population -in particular in cities- is growing, while climate change is affecting living conditions of millions, housing professionals should team up, share knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to accelerate the provision of affordable housing around the globe, anywhere.
How does it work?
This site is for and by those who work in housing and will grow and prosper because of their passion and energy. Our main topics include (among others) housing policy, social programs, planning and design, collaborative housing and sustainability. Please check out our full list of topics. Our stories are often country- or even city-related. Click here for our country map and city map.
Who is behind this?
^Housing Futures is created by the initiators of the International Social Housing Festival (ISHF) and edited by Josh Crites and Pepijn Bakker. We are based in Seattle (USA) and Rotterdam (the Netherlands). Our passion is housing and this site is meant to be a platform where those working in the housing field can come together to share ideas and best practices. More info on Josh and Pepijn.
We welcome both feedback and the opportunity for exchanges and networking.
If you are interested in assistance with conferences, exchanges, congresses or other workshops, please contact us. We are available for both help with planning and reporting. Please leave a message at the bottom of this page.
Work with us:
Our goal is to make this a website for and by those who are closest to the housing field of work. Because of that, it is our aim to have as many writers from around the world contribute to this site. The more countries represented, the richer the information will be. If you are interested in writing for Housing Futures, we would be interested in hearing from you. Leave your name, address and message below. Please note that at this time, we can not offer financial compensation for writers.
