Finding affordable housing online is not always easy.  Sometimes websites are not easy to use and or you might not know exactly where to go when looking for affordable housing online.  Here are some tips to use:

1. Public Housing Authority:  If you are extremely low income and searching for affordable housing online, look to see if a public housing authority has a website in your city.   There are around 3300 public housing authorities in the USA.    If you live in a big city, there is a strong chance you can find one in your area.  If you do not find a public housing authority in your city, try searching for a public housing authority using the name of your county.  This will be one of the fastest ways to find affordable housing online.
2. Local Non-Profits: Outside of public housing authorities, you can often find affordable housing online by seeing what other providers there are.  Doing a Google search for affordable housing providers with your city or county name will likely turn up some names.  It will be important to see if the housing providers you find have requirements.  Some affordable housing online that you find might only be for certain groups like elderly or disabled.
3. American Association of Retired Persons (AARP):  Seniors can use the AARP website when looking for affordable housing online.   This advocacy group for seniors does not build affordable housing but is a great resource to find affordable housing for seniors.
4. State Affordable Housing Alliance Groups:  Not every state has an affordable housing alliance but those that do offer a lot of great help for those searching for affordable housing online.   These groups usually serve as resources and advocates for affordable housing within their respective states.
