5 Public Housing Leaders In Ohio You Should Know

We here at ^Housing Futures believe in highlighting leadership within the housing community and the work that they are doing.  Below you will learn about some of the top housing leaders in the State of Ohio.

Jeffery Patterson- CEO Cuyahoga County Housing Authority: Jeffery K. Patterson, Chief Executive Officer and Safety Director: Patterson was appointed
Chief Executive Officer by the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Board of
Commissioners in March of 2012. Patterson has spent the vast majority of his professional career serving the residents of the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. As CEO of the 7th largest housing authority in the nation, he is responsible for a $220 million dollar budget, 1,000 employees, 10,500 units of housing, over 15,000 housing choice vouchers, and nearly 55,000 residents and participants of CMHA’s Low Income Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Programs.  Patterson possesses a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Mount Union College and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College.

Demetria Simpson-President and CEO of Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority-Prior to being promoted to CEO, Demetria served as Chief Operations Officer and LMHA’s Director of Real Estate Development & Modernization. A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, she obtained a bachelor of science degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Southern Mississippi. She led the redevelopment efforts of affordable housing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. She is also a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government Executive Program at Harvard University, where she participated in the Women and Power: Leadership in a New World program.

Gregory D. Johnson is the CEO for the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority.- Selected by the CMHA Board of Commissioners for his leadership and strategic skills, Mr. Johnson will continue to build upon the agency’s legacy of providing quality affordable housing.He joined CMHA from the Dayton Premier Management, where he accumulated 16 years of housing industry experience in a number of roles before being named CEO.

Charles Hillman- CEO of the Columbus Metro Housing Authority-  Charles is the CEO of one of the largest public housing authorities in the State of Ohio and the USA period.  Charles brings a rich mix of experience and education.  Prior to coming to Columbus he spent several years at the Chicago Housing Authority.  Charles also spent some time at the Cincinnati Housing Authority and other non-profits before making his way into this leadership position in Columbus.  He has a BA from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Jennifer Heapy- CEO of Dayton Housing Authority- Now Known as Greater Dayton Premier Management-  Jennifer has helped lead the agency through a name change and is highly regarded within the community.   We will continue to watch Jennifer progress her career as she continues to be a leader within the state and the country.
